Crew Person - Level I
As a crew person I, you will be expected to achieve quality landscape management efficiently and safely which will enable the branch and company to reach established goals, maintain proper care and use of tools, trucks, and equipment, present a positive company image with employees, clients, and the general public, and be a contributing team member that will assist in achieving successful completion of jobs in a timely manner. Experience not required.
Crew Person - Level II
Employees at the crew II level have gained proficiency in essential skills needed for the job, needs minimal training and supervision, and is proficient in common use and safety of equipment, tools and practices. As a guideline, we look for 2 full seasons of assessed industry experience, 30 days minimum of which are from Chapel Valley. We will consider experience from other companies, if the company where they are coming from appears to have sound practices. Experience must directly relate to the area of service that the individual will be performing.
To be considered for an assistant supervisor position, the employee must satisfy the requirements of Crew Person Level I & II. The employee should be able to perform additional duties such as temporarily supervising other employees, training other employees, and record-keeping. An assistant supervisor must possess a valid driver’s license. Formal education in horticulture or related field of study is not required, but preferred. Employee must demonstrate a high level of knowledge and proficiency in horticulture practices.
A crew leader manages a team of employees. Personnel management may include conducting wage and performance reviews and monitoring performance of team members on a regular basis. Employee gives direction/assignments to crew members. We look for at least 2 years in the role of an assistant supervisor – either at Chapel Valley or another viable industry or non-industry employer. Prior people management skills are required.
The ideal individual will have met the requirements for either assistant supervisor (with 4 years of experience) or crew leader (2 years minimum experience). The supervisor must hold a valid driver’s license and a formal education in horticulture (or related field) or at least 5 years of general industry experience. The supervisor will have full client contact and must be completely fluent and literate in English. Conversational Spanish and literacy preferred.
The Maintenance Property Manager has the primary responsibility of securing base maintenance contracts and renewals, enhancement, irrigation, lighting and plant healthcare sales for a designated geographical area. 2 year college degree in horticulture or related field preferred. Landscape or related industry sales experience required.
The Maintenance Branch Manager is directly responsible for the delivery of high quality maintenance, irrigation and IPM services on all contracted properties within an assigned client base. The Branch Manager is also responsible for personnel and equipment safety, team development, and meeting overall branch profitability. The branch manager will possess proven knowledge of or former training in horticulture, marketing, financing, sales, and personnel management. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
